Before becoming an international financial center from the early 1800s, Singapore used to be a rainforest-covered island. Except for its tropical climate, visitors can expose themselves to diverse wildlife and nature-based experiences, via Singapore Zoo, Bird Paradise, Night Safari, River Wonders, and Rainforest Wild ASIA, which are organised by Mandai Wildlife Reserve.

Similar to the Singapore Zoo, Night Safari is renowned for its “open-concept” design. Moats, trenches, and glass partitions. Unobtrusive barriers are used to separate animals from visitors, which offers a more immersive and naturalistic experience. The zoo is designed to mimic natural habitats and resembled animals’ wild homes, it enhances the visitor's understanding of wildlife.
Night Safari is the first nocturnal wildlife park in the world. It is now home to over 900 animals from approximately 100 species, of which almost 41% are threatened. Visitors can explore the park either by tram, or on foot via four walking trails. During the “Creatures of the Night Show”, one will probably be amazed by the wildlife ambassadors, displaying their natural talents…

【SIGHT】
To see well in the dark, nocturnal animals need huge eyes. At low light intensity, the pupils in their eyes are dilated greatly to allow more light to enter.
【SMELL】
Scents are important to nocturnal animals. Many depend on them to sniff out mates, locate food, track down prey or avoid predators.
【TASTE】
Instead of using the nose, snakes and some other reptiles flick their forked tongues to pick up scent particles to sense their environment and to locate prey.
【TOUCH】
Touch-sensitive whiskers help nocturnal animals such as cats, rodents, possums, otters, kiwis and nightjars to navigate, detect vibrations and judge prey's position.
【HEARING】
Many nocturnal animals rely on hearing to locate prey or avoid predators. Insect-eating bats hunt by echo-location. They emit high-frequency sound waves and have big, specially-designed ears to listen to the returning echoes and locate prey.
As the organisation of the five wildlife parks, Mandai Wildlife Reserve aims at caring for the planet and protecting animals and nature. The Group is driving a rejuvenation plan adjacent to Singapore's Central Catchment Nature Reserve, in order to integrate the five wildlife parks with distinctive nature-based experiences, green public spaces and an eco-friendly resort.

Only after the last tree has been cut down.
Only after the last river has been poisoned.
Only after the last fish has been caught.
Only then will you find that money cannot be eaten.
