Stratford-upon-Avon is a perfect place for Shakespeare-lovers to nerd out. Took us all the way from Shakespeare’s birth to his death. The building was entirely reconstructed in the 19th century, but in its original Tudor style.

John Shakespeare, William’s father, was a glove maker and wool dealer. He divided the house into two parts, so he could carry out his business in the same premises. Discover the family history and childhood stories behind the world’s greatest storyteller.

If the indoor literature lesson is enough, take a walk in the walled garden. Flowers and herbs were planted the same as in Shakespeare's time. By chance, we enjoyed a live “Hamlet” performance in the little theatre for free.

Our trip was not completed without Anne Hathaway’s Cottage. Before her marriage, she was living in the west, a 30-minute walk from William’s Birthplace. Despite the fire damage in 1969, the cottage was impressive with its original furniture from the 16th century.

To visit or not to visit, that is the question.
