2 hour performance. 5 acts. Covering 21 songs. Lady Gaga brought a night of “MAYHEM” to Coachella since her first appearance in this desert, where she filled in for Beyoncé who dropped out of the headliner slot due to pregnancy in 2017. With the ground-breaking set, Rolling Stone described her as a “Once-in-a Generation Pop Icon”. Though her most experimental album ARTPOP was not included, pop culture was in art and she definitely deserved our Applauses.

Act I: Of Velvet And Vice
Bloody Mary
Abracadabra
Judas
Scheiβe
Garden Of Eden
Poker Face
Known as her bold fashion choice, Lady Gaga took the spotlight with a giant red gown towered above the stage. “The category is, dance or die.” It's time to cast your spell on the night with this lady in red. Coupled with Poker Face, Gaga and her dancers transformed themselves into chess pieces and staged atop a giant chessboard. The battle between Gaga and the Mistress of Mayhem was additionally a tribute featuring Alexander McQueen’s 2005 “It's Only a Game” show.
Act II: And She Fell Into A Gothic Dream
Perfect Celebrity
Disease
Paparazzi
Alejandro
The Beast
Diving into a gothic dream was as if burying herself in the sandbox, filled with skeletons. She opened up the negative impacts of fame, such as suffering from fibromyalgia. Resembling her iconic robotic look, the Paparazzi hitmaker slipped into silver metallic armor pieces, stepped out from the Disease, and relieved herself from all pressures. For all the love, joy, and the strength given by her fans, she made a romantic gesture through building an opera house in the desert.
Act III: The Beautiful Nightmare That Knows Her Name
Killah (Gesaffelstein Remix)
Zombieboy
Die With A Smile
How Bad Do U Want Me
Featuring Gesaffelstein, Gaga rocked the stage with their collaboration Killah, which is inspired by David Bowie, and strutted down the catwalk in a bedazzled bodysuit with her beloved “Savannah” corset boots. If laying next to the skeleton was not eye-catching, dancing with it brought up to a new level of CAMP. A psychotic love theme with How Bad Do You Want Me. The cultural footprint of this festival since 1999 has grown to encompass way more than music.
Act IV: To Wake Her Is To Lose Her
Shadow Of A Man
Kill For Love
Born This Way
Shallow
Vanish Into You
Lady Gaga never holds back her love to Michael Jackson, and the choreography of Shadow Of A Man was absolutely paying homage to him. When “A Star Is Born” was filmed in Coachella, her role Ally was not born yet. 8 years later, she took the stage with Shallow, her most awarded song in history. The Born This Way singer emphasized, “the truth is we're all one. It's all just one big fucking thing,” before performing the LGBTQ+ anthem. How wonderful to vanish into her show.
Act V: Eternal Aria Of The Monster Heart
Bad Romance
Mother Monster started to name her fans Little Monsters since they crawled and screamed while she performed Bad Romance. “We are monsters, and monsters never die.” Before ending with her number-one single, a number of Black Plague-era masked doctors brought Mother Monster back to life, symbolising the coexistence of Lady Gaga and the Mistress of Mayhem, a dark side of herself. Extended far beyond any eye could see, Gaga reigns as a monarch in pop music at 38.
The chaos in your heart will never cease,
until you find another way to harness what you seek.
So I must sing and build the walls to cradle my own space.
And my own sound will grow the fortress of a home erased.
And her and I, will find a way to live as dueling twins.
—— “The Manifesto of Mayhem”, Lady Gaga
