Even though Jules Verne was born in Nantes, he spent almost 18 years in Amiens, a city in the North of Paris. The 1.5-hour train brought us back in time, how the Father of Science Fiction became the second most translated author in the world, after William Shakespeare.

He created a wide range of all-time classics, such as Around the World in 80 Days. The house exhibits some board games and movies inspired by his work. It also showcased a cabin design and a large map on the ground, as if we were travelling around the world.

The Notre Dame d’Amiens Cathedral is one of the highlights. Built in 1220 by bishop Evrard de Fouilloy, it remains the largest in France, double the size of Notre Dame of Paris. We were impressed by its original stained glass and Gothic polychrome sculpture.

“Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere.” Enjoy the Amiens macaron with the wanderlust spirit.
