What is a “Power Spot”? Unlike the one in Pokémon GO, which is a point of interest where Max Battles take place, the traditional terms of power spot (パワースポット) is borrowed from English, as a way to describe a spiritual spot. One can surely recharge their spirit in-tune with the surrounding elements. Sedona in the US and Stonehenge in the UK are just a few in the world.

It is believed that Japan was created by Onamuchi-no-Mikoto and Sukunahikona-no-Mikoto, and the Oarai Isosaki-jinja Shrine (大洗磯前神社) was built in 856 A.D. commemorate these deities.  Each of the three torii gates offers a unique sunrise spot, and the rays bathe the gate in red once the sun appears. The rebuilt main building was destroyed during fighting in the 16th century.

Oiwa Shrine (御岩神社) in Hitachi is ideal for an off-of-the-beaten-path adventure. The presence of these religious remains can be traced back from the Jomon period, based on the “Hitachi no Fudoki", the Japanese oldest literacy texts. It is believed that 188 deities dwell in this sacred site of ancient worship, as if the gods have transcended time and space to ensure the visitors’ safety.

Situated in Ibaraki (茨城県), Hitachi (日立) also gains its popularity as a floral paradise. Hitachi Seaside Park (ひたち海浜公園) delights visitors year-round with its stunning seasonal blooms, a zone between sea and land is home to ever-changing creatures. For nature lovers, spare time to enjoy the sunrise in SEA BiRDS CAFE, where the all-glass facade greets you by waves and sky.

Interestingly, the global technology company Hitachi actually originated from Hitachi. Namihei Odaira, the founder of Hitachi, started the company in 1910. Its headquarter is in Chiyoda, where its business varies from digital systems, renewable energy and healthcare products. Nowadays, we describe Hitachi, Ltd. and Hitachi City respectively to differentiate them properly.
