There is a selection of cities in Europe, which are famous for their vibrant colors. Bergen in Norway. Wrocław in Poland. Burano in Italy. Yet, a monotoned city also gains its reputation.

The PINK City in France

Toulouse, as a pink city, its history can be traced back in the 1st Century, when the Romans introduced the use of bricks. When the Garonne River moved back, stone was not common yet clay was readily available. The iron oxide gives it the pink life when it is burnt.

As a result, the locals utilized the materials to build their houses and religious structures, the Church of the Jacobins and the Basilica of Saint-Sernin being some prominent icons. The Musée du Vieux-Toulouse offers an immersive travel in time, with its miscellaneous items.

The Capitole is an emblem of the Ville Rosé. It is the heart of the municipality. The republican Moudenc was re-elected as a mayor under the green wave in 2020, an incompatible with pink perhaps. Its majestic façade and the occitan cross with zodiac signs make it unmissable.

Aside from the 4th largest city in France, the city is also home to one of the biggest student populations. Chill out in lovely restaurants, such as Le Salon d'Eugénie and L'autre Salon de Thé; but dance hard alongside the techno music, outside La Bibliothèque or in Le Bikini.

The GOLDEN City in Czech

Prague is named as the golden city, reflecting how the spires shimmer in golden tones during sunrise and sunset. The Charles Bridge, the oldest bridge standing over the Vltava River offers an impressive baroque view. No wonder the center became a world heritage in 1992.

The Prague Astronomical Clock draws the attention of thousands of visitors to the Old Town. Installed in 1410, it is the oldest clock still in operation, showing the relative positions of the Sun, Moon and Zodiac constellations. 12 apostles rotate inside the clock every hour.

Prague Castle was founded in the 9th century. As the largest coherent castle complex in the world, it consists of various architecture, from the Old Royal Palace, St. Vitus Cathedral, to the Summer Palace of Queen Anne. Fun fact is the President office is located right here.

People used to show their frustrations with the authority in the crying wall. While pop was banned before the Prague Spring, John Lennon’s music drew attention. The name “John Lennon Wall” arose after his death, which symbolized freedom. Can you IMAGINE?

Which is your preferable color if you were entitled to build a city on the continent?
