Le vin c'est de la poésie en bouteille.

As the city of wine, Bordeaux owns a unique landmark - the Musée du Vin et du Négoce. Built in 2016, it resembles the wine swirling in a glass, and the river flows in the Garonne. The exhibition introduces the history, production and manner of wine, including the Prohibition.

Protestants believed the law would end alcohol-related social ill, such as domestic violence. However, it led to a dire black market problem. As it happened during the Recession, the government decided to wipe it, since she needed the tax to support its expenditures.

AOC is the highest ranking of certified regions. The rest of them are VDQS, Vin de pays, and vin de table. Fertilized soil and warm weather make Bordeaux, Bourgogne and Rhône Valley the AOC of wine, while Loire Valley and Alsace are of champagne.

Smell would guide you to a famous pastry, i.e. the canelé. In the 16th century, vintners used egg white to remove harsh tannins. Nuns collected the abandoned egg yolk to make the cakes for the poor. It has a caramelized crust, with soft custard. Flavored with rum and vanilla. Just grab some in La Toque Cuivrée.

Walking alongside Garonne is another ideal way to explore the city. On this side, there is Pont de Pierre. Napoleon I ordered to build it in 1918. The 17 arches represent the amount of alphabets of “Napoleon Bonaparte”.

On the other side, there is Pont Jacques Chabon-Delmas. It was inaugurated in 2013. It is 575m long and 117m high, making it the highest vertical-lift bridge in Europe. The central part remains in one piece. It lifts up only if tall ships need to pass underneath.

RESERVE time for the Miroir d'eau in front of Place de la Bourse. This water mirror was built in 2006. With more than 3,400 square meters, it is the largest in the world. The granite slabs will be covered by 2 cm of water every quarter. Color tone varies from time and weather. Such a masterpiece of a moving picture.
