As part of the 15th anniversary celebration of the Hong Kong Disneyland, the Imagineers have transformed the Sleeping Beauty Castle (睡公主城堡) into the Castle of Magical Dreams (奇妙夢想城堡). Through the interpretation of cultural architectural features, its design paid tribute to 13 Disney Princesses and Queens. Let’s revisit each inspiring story and dare to dream big.

Snow White (白雪公主)

“Remember you’re the one who can fill the world with sunshine.” – Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937)

Her finale takes the shape of a weather vane, featuring the apple positioned on a coppery-red, small dome. This represents the poisoned apple offered by the Evil Queen, which plunged Snow White into a deep magic sleep. The finial sits atop a large, golden dome with an embossed apple lattice pattern. A pale-yellow tower subtly incorporating the other colors of Snow White's dress.

Cinderella (灰姑娘)

“Have faith in your dreams and someday your rainbow will come shining through.” – Cinderella (1950)

Bibbidi, bobbidi, boo! The finale on Cinderella's roof represents the enchanted golden pumpkin coach, the magnificent carriage that brought her to Prince Charming's Ball. The architectural roof shingles above the rotunda are a distinct shade of light blue. This color associates with Cinderella because of the memorable, magically transformed ball gown she wears to the Ball.

Aurora (愛洛公主)

“They say if you dream a thing more than once, it’s sure to come true.” – Sleeping Beauty (1959)

Her finale features a shimmering golden crown that alludes to her title and responsibility as a princess. Hints of color match her iconic dress, which switches between pink and blue. Her tower reaches higher than the others , serving as an homage to the Sleeping Beauty Castle that was unveiled on the opening day of the park. Castle of Magical Dreams was built upon that heritage.

Ariel (艾莉奧)

“Who says that my dreams have to stay my dreams?” – The Little Mermaid (1989)

The dome features scalloped details with a pearly luster and gold highlights. The color of Ariel's tower is inspired by her dress, which incorporates subtle gradations of coral and green. A golden seashell supported by kelp and pearls serves as the finial on top of her tower, suggesting her deep connection to the ocean and all of its creatures.

Belle (貝兒)

“I want adventure in the great, wide somewhere.” – Beauty and the Beast (1991)

The golden finial on the roof of her turret depicts the enchanted rose from Beast's castle. A blue dome features a golden, embossed book icon pattern that symbolizes her passion for reading. Tivo main colors on the turret best represent Belle: blue for the dress she wears while strolling through her village, and yellow for the iconic ballgown she wears while dancing with the Beast.

Jasmine (茉莉公主)

“I'm like a shooting star, I’ve come so far, I can’t go back to where I used to be.” – Aladdin (1992)

The dome on her turret is topped with a golden finial that depicts Abu playfully hanging onto a decorative spire as if caught in the wind. Taking inspiration from the princess' signature outfit, her dome is turquoise with a golden pattern that includes sword-like shapes. Additionally, a beautiful fabric pattern embellishes the fuchsia walls of Jasmine's turret.

Pocahontas (寶嘉康蒂)

“My dream is pointing me down another path.” – Pocahontas (1995)

The golden finial on top of her turret features her devoted hummingbird companion, Flit, with raspberries delightfully stuck on his thin, needlelike beak. Architectural elements inspired by Pocahontas' story include a bas-relief of flowing leaf patterns on a pointed reddish-copper roof, and a turquoise band that represents her iconic necklace.

Mulan (木蘭)

“I’ll discover some way to be myself and make my family proud.” – Mulan (1998)

The top of her tower features her faithful companion - Mushu - playfully using the center of her golden finial as a gong. The color of her tower is inspired by her dress. Elements that pay tribute to her story include an embossed cherry blossom motif with gold accents on a rose gold dome. Ornamentation in the form of crossed golden spears symbolizes the legend of a fearless warrior.

Tiana (蒂安娜)

“I know exactly where I’m going and I’m almost there.” – Princess and the Frog (2009)

The golden finial on her tower depicts Prince Naveen in the form of a frog, sitting atop a water lily and puckering his lips in preparation for a transformational kiss from Tiana. Green is a prevalent color in Tiana's story, which is why her tower features subtle shades of green. Additionally, an embossed water lily motif adorns the gold dome on her tower.

Rapunzel (長髮公主樂佩)

“Like everybody else I’ve got a dream.” – Tangled (2010)

The golden finial on her tower-shaped turret depicts the Sundrop flower. This glowing lily-like blossom is the source of magic in the beloved princess' golden hair. Rapunzel is also known for her unique purple dress and her iconic golden hair, which is why her turret is painted in shades of purple and topped with a golden roof.

Merida (梅莉達公主)

“I’ll be shooting for my own hand!” – Brave (2012)

The finial on her turret is shaped as a golden bow and arrow positioned against a target, signifying her natural sense of freedom and serve as a source of personal strength. Celtic designs that reference the four clans adorn the turret roof, alluding to a family bond and her Scottish ancestry. Fiery copper, regal blue, and gold highlights represent this courageous young princess.

Moana (慕安娜)

“If I go there’s just no telling how far I’ll go.” – Moana (2016)

The golden finial on her tower depicts replicas of Maui's hook, which carries the heart of Te Fiti. The finial sits on a sea-blue dome adorned with a water reflection motif that symbolizes the ocean. The richly colored tower features embossed Oceanic patterns and waves as well as iconic earth-tone colors - shades of orange, red, and tan - that reflect her connection to nature.

Anna & Elsa (安娜及愛莎)

“I know we can figure this out together.” – Frozen (2013)

“Let it go! I'm one with the wind and sky.” – Frozen (2013)

The storybook-inspired architecture of their tower is evocative of Arendelle Castle, where both sisters grew up, and includes a light blue shingled roof reminiscent of Elsa's ice powers. The shimmering silver finial on the royal sisters' tower is in the form of a snowflake, signifying Elsa's ice magic and the snow that propels her and Anna on their adventures.

Constructed within the backdrop of vibrant mountains, this iconic castle once again pays homage to the city's evergreen attitude of togetherness, and stands as a shining beacon of possibility. A variety of daytime shows will be staged in this centrepiece, while the Nighttime Spectacular, Cherish the Memories (迪士尼星夢光影之旅), marks a perfect ending with timeless characters.
