God created the world, but the Gaudí created Barcelona. To what extent do you agree with it? Partly correct. The Roman Catholic faith has inspired his work, which earned him a nickname of God's Architect. Yet, he always showed respect and paid tribute to God.

Built in 1877, Casa Batlló stands on Passeig de Gràcia. Josep Batlló wanted a unique house that cannot be intimated. The House of Bones was based on the story of Sant Jordi and the Dragon. where the Loft as the ribcage with 60 arches, and the balconies as the sculls. A classical Catalan modernist style.

Situated in the Carmel Hill, the project of Park Guëll originated in 1900. It was inspired by an English urban planning movement known as “Garden City Movement”. The creation of a self-contained community surrounded by green spaces failed and Gaudí bought the house, which became a museum in this park.

Gaudí committed no straight line as there are none in nature. Named after the sponsor Count Eusebi Guëll, the park became a top excursion, with mosaic salamander and the serpentine benches in the terrace as the icon. The Laundry Room Portico even mimicked the ocean wave to secure the road beyond.

Even La Sagrada Familia is an unfinished work, it was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1984. When Gaudí died in 1926 being hit by a tram, only a quarter of it was completed. It is home to the tomb of himself, visitors can pay tribute in the underground level.

Nothing is art if it does not come from nature. A forest of columns reaching the vaults like trees. Stained glass windows filter the light as if it was passing through the leaves of the trees. Sculptures of snakes, dragons and lizards are outside as they represent evil force.

The Nativity Façade is dedicated to the birth of Jesus Christ, while the Passion Façade narrates God’s death, resurrection and passion based on the Bible. The Glory one will access the center. A staircase symbolizing Hell will be decorated with demons.

A total of 18 towers will be built when the project is completed in 2026. While 4 of them represent the evangelists, 12 represent the apostles, and two represent the Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ respectively. The highest tower will be 170m tall so nothing is higher than God’s work, the Montjuïc in Barcelona.

Now we know how much Vicky and Cristina fell in love with this city of art. But Gaudí is not the only mastermind behind Barcelona. The Palau de la Música Catalana, the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, and Els Quatre Gats are just a few treasuries awaiting discovery.
